How Resident Evil 7 was made?
Resident Evil 7 released on 24th January 2017 is one of the scariest games. This game is a horror survival game, which makes sure you get more scared compared to the resident evil games released before.
This game makes sure that you activate your survival instinct while playing the game.
If you have played this game you will agree that this game is also a horror love story.
Ethan gets a video message from her wife who disappeared 3 years ago, then Ethan goes for the search for her in Louisiana, and there he finds out something different about his wife and her family.
I just don't want to spoil the story for the audience who have not played the game, but those who have played it will know what I am saying.
This game is amazing, have you ever thought about how this game was made? How they made this amazing horror survival game? How they had an Idea of this game? Well, I have found some answers to these questions.
The Ideology.
The development of the game Resident Evil 7 was started in January 2014. Jun Takeuchi was the executive producer of the game. He wanted to make a first-person survival horror game.
He wanted players who will play this game to feel fear while playing the game, So Jun Takeuchi assign the project to Koshi Nakanishi.
Jun Takeuchi thought that it will be better to give this project to Koshi Nakanishi because he had the experience.
Jun Takeuchi showed a CG Movie of the game which gave the idea of how the game should be.
The movie was also sent to the western office of Capcom, they recorded the reaction of the team watching the movie in which the team got scared.
The team of the western office loved the movie.
As Jun Takeuchi wanted to make players feel fear while playing the game so Koshi Nakanishi decided to do something different.
He had thought that to make players feel fear then the team should know how getting scared feels.
So Koshi Nakanishi decided to visit some haunted places in Osaka which are in Japan with his team and a camera.
After visiting the haunted places Koshi Nakanishi and his team got the idea of how to make the players feel fear.
They even did pre-visualizations for the team by themself, Like the table scene at the beginning of the game. They shot it with Gopro to have an Idea.
How the game atmosphere was set.
The game was a horror survival game so it needed the environment and the atmosphere scary.
Toshihiko Tsuda was the art director of the game, He decided to set the game location in Louisiana.
The reason it was set in Louisiana was that they felt the Southern Gothic Movie feel was good for the game.
To be sure that the Louisiana environment will suit Toshihiko Tsuda went on a research trip to Louisiana.
He also took a lot of pictures to show the team, everyone liked it then the capture team was sent to Louisiana to take texture references and use photo scanning to capture certain buildings and objects from the location.
Why 'Daddy' AKA Jack Baker is different and scary.
Morimasa Sato was the scenario director of the game and the first job given to him was of the character Jack Baker who also called 'Daddy'.
He was assigned the job of making Jack's Character beyond just being a killer, Jack was portrayed as the violent and monstrous killer.
He didn't create Jack just to be a killer he wanted something more, as the villains like Nemesis just follow us to kill as we have seen in Resident Evil 7, this time it happened same the villain just finding us to kill but it has some dialogues which will scare you more.
Morimasaa Sato is a big fan of Stephan King, So he took some inspiration from the movie The Shining, If you have seen that movie you could tell some similarities between the movie and game.
According to Morimasa , Jack was a different enemy because they could finally create an enemy with both human and monstrous sides.
